This year’s flu season is one of the worst in recent history, and it’s hitting particularly hard in Florida and Georgia, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

CHP Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., Center for Healthy Aging Provides Specialized Support for Older Adults

By the end of 2029 – just a decade away – every member of the Baby Boomer generation will have reached age 65, a milestone that marks the need for a new kind of care focused on healthy aging. Nearly 61,000 residents in Capital Health Plan’s seven-county service area are already over 65. To meet the rising need for the type of specialized care required for older residents, CHP added the Nancy Van Vessem, M.D., Center for Healthy Aging to their list of services.

Capital Health Plan Announces New Doctors

As Capital Health Plan (CHP) continues to expand to meet its growing membership, it welcomes three new primary care physicians to the family: Dr. Christine Chiu-Geers, Dr. Mary Jane Tucker, and Dr. Cielo Rose. While all of the physicians are familiar to Tallahassee patients, Dr. Rose will be among the medical professionals launching CHP’s new Metropolitan Health Center, opening this month.
