National Nutrition Month

Healthy People 2030 is a national program, led by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, designed to improve the health of Americans over a span of 10 years, 2020-2030.

Part of the initiative centers around promoting healthy eating and making nutritious foods available.  In honor of National Nutrition Month, we are highlighting the five (5) areas of Healthy People 2030, Nutrition and Healthy Eating section, that have little to no detectable change since 2020.

Take the challenge to work on at least one of these areas for the rest of 2023:

  • Increase fruit consumption by people aged 2 and over
  • Increase vegetable consumption by people aged 2 years and older
  • Increase consumption of dark green vegetables, red and orange vegetables, and beans and peas by people aged 2 years and over
  • Reduce consumption of added sugars by people aged 2 years and over
  • Increase the proportion of health care visits by adults with obesity that include counseling on weight loss, nutrition, or physical activity
