Capital Health Plan (CHP) is celebrating its 40th anniversary throughout the month of June. We are honoring this milestone by looking back at some of the organization’s accomplishments throughout the years.
In 1982, Tallahassee leaders came together to create a first-of-its kind health maintenance organization (HMO) to meet the community’s needs. We started with just 5,000 members and a network of 75 physicians. Four decades later, Capital Health Plan is now a national health care leader with over 130,000 members, three state-of-the-art health centers, and a broad network of doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers located throughout Leon and its surrounding six counties.
